Show FIRE BREAKS OUT IN BRIGHAM CITY BLOCK Several Small Warehouses, Barns and Other Old Buildings Not Fireproof Are Destroyed by the Flames. BRIGHAM CITY, Sept. IS. Fire broke out shortly after 12 o'clock today in a barn back of the business section oi the west 6tde of Main street. It destroyed a number of small warehouses, barns and the like. Among the buildings burned to the ground was the garage used by the Cash Grocery & Meat company. Most of the buildings were old and were built before the passage of the ordinance providing for fireproof construction within the business district. The loss is small as far as the buildings build-ings are concerned, but a considerable amount of merchandise stored in the buildings was destroyed. The heaviest loser is the Mountain States Telephone & Telegraph company. A telephone line supplying the entire block bounded on the north by Forest street, on the east by Main, on the west by First West and on the south by First South street was badly damaged. A great many telephones will be otit of order until the break is repaired. The origin of the blaze could not be learned. |
