Three of '.he four favorites in this afternoon's ipening races of the Columbus grand clr- i :uit -meeting were from the Murphy eta- ; lie. Only the most pronounced one, The Real Lady, was successful. She took the 4orse Review Futurity for two-year-oid irotters. in straight heats, getting no real Dppositlon from even Emma Magowan .hat was twice second. Lon McDonald, the Indianapolis driver, vdd in charge the horses that defeated he other Murphy first choices. Miss Maris Mar-is M. won the King stake for pacers. he was a strong second choice to Roan rial, which was four times second. The :lrst heat was won away from him by 3ayde Densmore, fresh from the Great (Vestern circuit. Miss Harris M.. after finishing fifth in the first heat, stepped away better in t lie next one and won it in 2:024. the fastest time of the race. .In this finish both Roan Hal and Sayde Densmore were :lose up, as they were at the ends of the next two heats. McCioskey, victor in me uui troi, nas been racing for three full seasons on the grand circuit without being a winner until un-til today. He has been behind the money but a few times, however, and last year at San Francisco won two races. This afternoon he had little more strength than Virginia Barnett and Empress of Russia. In the third heat Pittsburg was beaten bv only a neck. Little Frank D., a recent addition to the Valentine stable, took the 2:14 pace. The field was the largest this year on the grand circuit. The first heat went to Queen Hal, a Canadian mare, with Little Frank D. finishing twelfth.
