Show ANGORA GOATS ARE RAISED IN FORESTS Most people have been led to believe that fire-fighting and the preserving of game constitute the only interests of the officers in charge of 'national forests. But a bulletin received at the local headquarters head-quarters yesterday controverts that opinion, opin-ion, for it tells of the intensive study now being made of the goat industry in its relation to the forests. Officials say that in the forests of the southwest large numbers of Angora goats aro being raised for their hair. In 1915 more than 50,000 goats were grazed on national forests in six states. The destructive de-structive nature generally ascribed to the goat family is not frowned upon by the government foresters in many places, for it is said that their consumption of brush is a material aid in keeping down inflammable material. Further information informa-tion on the rules for the grazing of goats may be had at the local office. |
