Show FLAG PRESEWTATIDnl MUCH APPRECIATED Attorney General Barnes Addresses M. J. Dixon in , Patriotic Vein. Attorney Gmieral A. R. Barnes, president presi-dent of the Sons of the American Revolution, Revo-lution, made official acknowledgment by letter yesterday of the gift of a beautiful beau-tiful American flag, presented to the organization or-ganization at the Independence day celebration cele-bration in Liberty park by the Har-monie Har-monie society. 9 The letter was addressed to M. J. Dixon, Dix-on, who made the presentation in connection con-nection with a speech representative of the loyalty of American citizens of German Ger-man nativity to the United States. At the time, three flags were presented by Mr. Dixon, the other two being gifts to the Daughters of the American Revolution Revo-lution and the Daughters of tho Revolution. Revo-lution. Following is a brief excerpt from the letter forwarded to Mr. Dixon yesterday yester-day by Attorney General Barnes: The members of this society and all other true Americans realize the true significance of this gift, accompanied accom-panied as it was hy the sincere thoughts expressed in your speech of transmittal. Tho German citizens of this country are among the very best which America can boast, and we all recall particularly the statement which you made to the effect that few if any Germans ever return to their native country after once coming to these shores, and that the rosters of pat riots in all our wars are filled with the names of Germans. The letter further explained that the flag would bo carefully preserved in the archives of the recipient society and that the manner of coming into'posscs-sion into'posscs-sion of it would be made a part of the society's records to be filed away for the information of future generations. |
