Show DIVORCED MAN GIVEN A JAIL SENTENCE Special to The Tribune. OGDEN, July 7. Leslie B. Richardson, cited to appear in the district court today to-day to show cause why he had failed to pay alimony to Marparet Moyes Richardson, Rich-ardson, was sentenced by Judge X. J. Harris to serve thirty days in the county jail forcontempt of court. Efforts were being mVde by the yomiR- man's relatives this evening to pay a portion of the alimony ali-mony now due. furnish a bond for payment pay-ment in the future and obtain suspension suspen-sion of the sentence. At the time Mrs. Richardson filed a petition for the order eltinp the defendant defend-ant into court, she also filed an affidavit claiming that her divorced husband had said he would go to jail rather than pay the alimony prescribed by the court. When arraigned this morning Richardson Richard-son said financial obligations In excess of his Income had made it impossible for him to pav the alimony. When questioned by his wife's attorney as to whether he had joined a fraternal organization under a $r0 Initiation fee since the divorce was granted. Richardson replied that he had. Judge Harris then sentenced him to serve thirty days in jail. |
