Show SHORT WEIGHT ON ICE IS COMPLAINT Complaint was telephoned to the office of tho state dairy and food bureau in the capitol yesterday by an indignant housewife that her ice riian was selling ice by guess, rather than by weight. C. E. Condie, deputy superintendent of weights and measures, instructed the complaining woman to report the matter to the city sealer of weights and measures meas-ures at the city health department. In the meantime Deputy Condie began 1 a perusal of the state weights and measures meas-ures law. He did not find any specific mention as to the vending of ice or the behavior of iee men, but came to the conclusion that the, general clause as to net weight of articles and commodities offered for sale would cover the question. ques-tion. This clause provides that "Whenever, anv commodity is sold on a basis of ! weight it shall be unlawful to employ any other weight in such sale than the net weight of the commodity; and all contracts concerning goods sold on a basis ba-sis of weight shall be understood and construed accordingly." |
