Show Stenographers in Demand. Special to The Tribune. OGDEN", Sept. 17. The west offers such brilliant opportunities for the young man that a sufficient number of male stenographers stenog-raphers and typewriters cannot be Induced In-duced to join the government service to supply the western district alone, even at a salary of $900 per year to start. This is the contention made by Charles L. Snyder of San Francisco, secretary of the Twelfth United States civil service district dis-trict who visited Ogden today. Mr. Snyder Is now making an inspection trip over his district, which embraces the states of California, Utah. Nevada, New Mexico, Iiialio and Colorado. Mr. Snyder said that his" office can barely supply the demands of the district, dis-trict, a male stenographer being rarely available for call to Washington, D. C. The more populous districts of the east furnish most of the male stenographers, according to Mr. Snyder. Within a short time the force in Secretary Snyder's office of-fice at San Francisco is to be increased so that examination papers of applicants can be passed upon there without the necessity of being sent to Washington, as at present. |
