Show GERMANY IS SAID TO BE MAKING ITS FORTS STRONGER LO NTON Sept. 17, 2:30 p. m. Telegraphing Tele-graphing from Maastricht. Holland, the correspondent of the Reuter Telegram company says that dispatches received in Maestricht from Cologne, Dusseldorf, Wesel and Dulsburg indicate that these points are strengthening their fortifications fortifica-tions to meet a possible advance of the allies. The four towns mentioned in the above dispatch are on the Rhine. Cologne is forty-five miles north-northwest of Co-blenz, Co-blenz, an important military stronghold: Dusseldorf Is twenty-one miles north-northwest north-northwest of Cologne, Duisburg is fifteen miles north of Dusseldorf and Wesel 1b thirty-two miles northwest of Dusseldorf. To the west of this group of cities is the frontier of Holland, from which they are distant from twenty to thirty-five miles. |
