The funeral of William Phillips Mifflin Mif-flin of the Utah Power & Light company, com-pany, who died Wcdnoaday in Layton after aft-er a four days' Illness of pneumonia, will he lield from the Second ward meotlng house in this city Monday afternoon at 1 o'clock. The services will be open to relatives and friends. The body will He In state at the family residence. S70 South Fifth East street, until noon Monday. Mon-day. Interment will bo in the City cemetery. ceme-tery. Mr. Mifflin was born In Malad, Ida., October 1(5, 1879. Me was the son of Mr. and Mrs. II. 1L Mifflin, and Is survived by his mother, who resides at S70 South Fifth East street, and by four sisters and three brothers, as follows: Mrs. J. M. Adiins. H57 South Fifth East street: Mrs. W. J. Wllllama. Malad. Ida,; Miss Gladys Mifflin, New York city; Mrs. C. E. Lewis, Cashmere. Wash.; H. H. Mifflin and John K. Mifflin, both of Malad. News of Mr. Mifflin's death . shocked his many friends here, who had watched his rapid rise In the world of electrical engineering with Interest, Ho had always al-ways been In robust health, except during dur-ing the last two months, when he showed the effects of injuries received In a run-awav run-awav last November. Mr. Mifflin was a graduate of the state university, taking his degree in electrical engineering In 1007. In school and after graduation he took a prominent part In university dramatic work. He was one of the staunchest supporters of and worker work-er in the University Dramatic club, of which ho was president for two yearn and manager during his last school year. He was a member of the executlvo board of the associated student body, and his Influence was of the kind that makes for a greater university. He was a member mem-ber of the Amid Fidcsslml fraternity and of various other engineering societies and chibs. . ... Mr Mifflin took special training with tho General Electric company at Schcncc-tadv. Schcncc-tadv. N. V., and later entered the service of the Knight Power company. Early in 1012 ho entered the service of tho utah-Idaho utah-Idaho Sugar company at Garland, and In October, 1912 he becamo district manager man-ager at Layton for the Utah Power & Light company. Mr. MJfflln was engaged to be married during tho coming fall to Miss 'Tack Chamberlain, daughter of W. H. Chamberlain Cham-berlain of Mill Creek. |
