Show H PROCESS IKES II IfGfMEOfflf Is Especially Available for Isolated Iso-lated Low Grade Ore Tonnages. What is regarded by motalIurgiat3 as being' an unprecedented achievement in metal extraction from ores is rccordod In a report which haa Just been certified under oath before a notary public by E. P. Jennings, Androw Baggs and Frank Jenson, and by them transmitted to tho advisory board of tho Metal Extraction compunv' of this city. This report glycs the result of a demonstration test recently recent-ly made under tho process originated by Sclden J. ClawHon. and which ia now owned by the Metal Extraction company. Tho test was made at tho company's plant, 32 Richards street, under tho personal per-sonal supervision of E. P. Jennings, geologist and chemist, while the plant was operated, by Andrew Baggs of the University of Utah and Frank Jenson of tho Union Assay company of this city. The ore selected for tho run was an extremely slllclous one, particularly refractory, re-fractory, carrying only 1.26 por cent copper cop-per and crushed to about twenty mesh. Englno distillate oil was used for fuel. The plant consisted of a muffled furnace, blast fan, fume arrester, a. 2-horsepowor electric motor, pipes, connections and drip-water attachment Certified reports from the Union Assay company gave the results of the extraction test as follows: "Tho amount of extraction of coppor from tho ore wan 92 per cent, the amount of catch was 97 per cent, and of the entire metal contents of the ore there was actually actu-ally recovered 90 per cent." Experts who have had these facts and figures brought to their attention say that the results achieved are without precedent. prece-dent. They foresee In the process invented in-vented by .Mr. Clawson an early expansion expan-sion of the "mining Industry In Utah and elsewhere by reason of tho fact that the new extraction method will bring into actual productiveness an enormous acreage acre-age of low-grade ground that Is now lyinr in idleness. Not even extreme isolation iso-lation from railroad transportation facilities facili-ties will prove a bar to production undor this new process, declare mining men and metallurgists of experience. Directors of the company are Selden I. Clawson. Rudger Clawson, William Service, Serv-ice, N. T. Schofleld and W. Crawford Anderson. An-derson. The latter Is also a member of the advlsoo' board, which otherwise consists con-sists of "W. S. McCorniak, E. P. Jennings, Duncan MacVichle and Theodore Tobi-ason. Tobi-ason. The officers of tho company aro now considering propositions for construction con-struction of plants upon offers submitted by parties who own extensive and valuable valua-ble properties which are far removed from railroads. Test runs have already been made upon ores from these properties, proper-ties, with surprising results in somo instances. |
