Show RAILWAY EiPMEIT IS AHffi DAILY, The Salt Lake & Utah .Railroad com- I pany, building the electric line from Salt .Lake City to Payson via Provo, Is saying little, but it is known that a very busy campaign of work Is under way and that grading upon the line will be undertaken within a short time. General Manager Walter C. Orem was aecn by Tho Tribune Saturday and asked about construction work. He made tho following statement; The company has made splendid headway In acquiring rights of wav for the lino, especially In Utah county, coun-ty, where we have practically one-half one-half of the county covered at this time. Ralls and ties and other equipment equip-ment are being accumulated along the line, especially at American Fork. Lehl and Provo. and there are at least fifteen miles of rails and ties on the. scene, with more being received dally. Orders have been placed by the company for almost all tho supplies which will be needed for the road, and what remains to bo secured will be purchased In tho very near future. Contractu for grading the road will be let during the coming month, and by the llrst of April the company will have upward of 500 teams at work on the grade. From that hour on tho line will be pushed to completion as fast as men and money can do the work. Barring unforeseen delays, the company will havo the line In operating opera-ting condition between Salt Lake City and Provo by late In October or early in November. The line will be exceptionally well located, the heaviest gradient being six-tenths of 1 per cont, and the greatest curve Is S degrees. The lino will be built and equipped with all modern conveniences, and It Is our Intention to give such quick, efficient, comfortable and safe service as to very greatly stimulate travel. Being abl?, ns we will be. to deliver the traveling public right Into the heart of the business section or Salt Lake will be a very Important thing for Salt Lake and for all the towns and the country along the line. |
