Show New' Owyhee Hotel of Boise Will Be the Finest in Hdaho THE OWYHEE, BOISE'S NEW HOTEL. bpecial to Tho Tribune. . BOISE, Ida., March S. Mny will see the formal opening of the Owyhee hotel in this city, now on tho verge of completion, and which is considered one of the iinest hostclries to be found in the northwest country. It will also, when opened, hold the distinction of being the leading hotel in the state of Idaho, and is destined to be the headquarters head-quarters for future political conclaves, conventions and other state gatherings. Constructed along lines which the builders build-ers believed would make it adequate to handling tho increasing travel into this section of the intcrmountain country coun-try for years to come, the new Owyhee inaugurates the skyscraper era in Boise building history as well as furnishing the first metropolitan roof garden. This hotel was erected at. a cost of $o50,000, by (he .Schubert Hotel com-' pany, recently incorporated under the laws of this stale. The principal stockholders arc Leo J. Fnik of tho Falk Mercantile company of Boise and C. W. Schubert, tho latter a veteran hotel manager who lias a wide acquaintance with the traveling -public in tlu west. and was for a. number of years manager of the Jdanha hotel of this citv. Properly Prop-erly of the Kalhan Falk -estate, located lo-cated at the corner of Eleventh and Main streets, in the heart of the growing grow-ing business center, was selected as the site of the new hotel. It has a commanding com-manding view of the Main strecr business busi-ness thoroughfare as well as the entiro Boise valley and surrounding mountains, the Owyhccs to the south and the Boise mountains lo the north. Rising seven stories of native brown stone trimmings and salmon-colored brick, with cleau. clear-cut and sharp architectural lines, the Owvhee hotel is an imposing structure. It. contains 2o0 rooms, modern and complete with hot and coll running water and baths, lhc main entrance faces Main street and leads through a high arched hallway hall-way to be decorated with palms, plants, etc.. to the large lobbv located in the center or the structure. Tins -is provided pro-vided with a mezzanine floor overhanging overhang-ing the office and capped with an arched glns roof. Lounging .settees, chairs and leather upholstered scats give tho lobby an inviliug appearance. To tho oast is found the elevator leading lead-ing to tho floors above and the spacious spa-cious dining room below. A cafe opens off to .the right. This will be finished ill old English, with the big welcome fireplace. To the west is the smoking and lounging room for gentlemen, and the billiard room, also covcrod with an arched glass roof. The hotel has been so constructed as lo make it. possible to close off or open suites of rooms for private use. Ma-hoganv Ma-hoganv furniture, expected to arrive this month, will complete the furnishings furnish-ings throughout. Besides the passenger passen-ger elevator, freight .service will be given separatelv lo each floor. The rpof garden will be of the latest design de-sign and promises to be attrai'tive to the tourist public during the warm days of the coming summer. The culinarv deparlment is to be complete in design de-sign and furnishings. All labor-saving devices have been purchased, while the arrangement makes it possible for tin management to handle from S00 to 1000 banquet guests. This hostelry will boast of its own dairy ranch, installed for the purpose of supporting its table, and will also be operated lo furnish the fresh foodstuffs. food-stuffs.
