Show ' ' Deseret Gymnasium to Be Opened Tuesday 1 DESERET GYMN ASIUM BUILDING. At noon yesterday the commlttoes having hav-ing in charge the arrangements for the formal opening of the new Deseret gymnasium gym-nasium mado their final reports, and It was decided thnt everything was practically prac-tically In readiness for throwing open the magnificent new building to the public next Tuesday. Arrangements for tho opening have been made more with a view of showing the visitors the building build-ing and explaining the many fentures worthy of special note than of providing provid-ing entertainment. There will be no formal programme and no special open- Ing ceromony. During tho nftcrnoon the Scnubort String quartetto will play from 2:30 to 5:30 o'clock a programme of popular popu-lar and classical music that will Include the following numbers; Minuet In G by Beethoven, nocturne by Chopin, selection from "Woodland" by Luders, "Cavntlna" by Raff, selection from "Serenade" by Herbert, "Norwegian Dances" by Grieg. "Dawn of Love" by Bendlx, "Glow Worm" by Llncko, and "Autumn" by Morst. In the ovonlng, from 7:30 to 10:30 o'clock, tho Salt Lake orchestra, under Fred Mldgley, will render tho following programme: Selection, "Princo of To- THE BIG SWIMMING POOL. night." by Howard: "Slzllutta," by F. ; Von Blon: "Lo Caid." by Thomas; l,Red Mill," by Herbert; "Suite." by Schumann; soloctlon from "Lohengrin," by Wngnor; "Peer Gynt Suite." by .Grieg, and waltzes by Waldteufcd. Tho visitors to tho gym will bo shown through In groups of ten, In order that all may hear tho explanations made by the guides. To escort tho groups through tho various do- Sartmenl8 nearly one hundred guides' will o provided under the regular gymnasium staff. Tho work on tho gymnasium Is virtually finished and class work will be-gin be-gin on Wednesday morning. Every conceivable apparatus that modem athletic science approves has been installed, and the appointments are considered ideal in every way The gymnasium gym-nasium Is under the supervision of Professor Pro-fessor B. S. Hinckley, general secretary, and W. E. Day will have entire supervision super-vision of tho gymnasium and athletic work. The staff of assistants has not been completed yet, but will likely bo announced next week In time for the regular Instruction work. |
