Show INTERFERE with officer WHILE MAKING ARREST George Ness and William Nelson were arrested by Patrolman Beyuou Saturday night. They aro charged, respectively, with assaulting an officer and with in-tcreierlng in-tcreierlng with an officer. Their ball was fixed nt $100 each. As Patrolman Beynon was leaving a .State street car at tho Intersection of State and Second South streets his attention at-tention was attracted by a street light faking place In front of the Luxus bar on State street. Pushing through the crowd. Patrolman Beynon told the combatants com-batants to stop fighting, and. after pulling pull-ing them apart, handcuffed them together to-gether and started toward tho station. Ness steppod In front of Patrolman Beynon Bey-non and kicked him to the ground. Patrolman Pa-trolman Beynon immediately knocked Ness to his knees by .striking him over the head with a revolver. Ho then placed Ness under arrest and also Nelson, who interfered. With the two fighters handcuffed hand-cuffed together, Patrolman Beynon turned his attention to taking Ness and Nelson to the automobile patrol, which had been called. The crowd surged forward at that moment and separated tho patrolman from the handcuffed prisoners, who succeeded suc-ceeded In slipping the handcuffs and escaping. Tho handcuffs were later handed back to Putrolman Bcvnon. |
