Show MAIL POUCH CONTAINING MUCH MONEY IS LOST DENVER, Colo., April 21. Chief Inspector Cochran of the Denver post -office announced tonight, that a mail pouch containing twenty-nine rogistored packages had been lost from a Union Pacific train between Green River and Bryan, Wyo., Sunday night. ij'pon comparison with tho records of tho San Francisco post office it was discovered dis-covered that three packages of unsigned un-signed bank notes, aggregating 0000, consigned by the treasury department to California banks, were among tho contents of the missing pouch. There were fivo mail clerks in the car when the pouch was lost, but; the loss was not discovered for some time. ,Tho poueh is supposed to have fallen from tho car through a door jolted open on the heavy grade. v One of tlie packages was consigned to the First National bank of Palo Alto, Cal and contained $10 and $20 notes numbered from U. 324232 to U. 32-1247, amounting to $S00. The second package, aggregating $2400 in $50 and $100 notes' are numbered num-bered from B. (527533 to (327548, was consigned to a San Joso bank. The third packago of $1800 in $10 and $20 notes numborod from II. 514342 to 514377, was addressed to a t bank in Santa Cruz. |
