Joseph Anderson, a former teacher in the Richfield schools, visited friends hero this week. Miss Lerinda Jorgensen was summoned to Ephralm this week by the death of her grandmother. Mrs, Jensen, who died of pneumonia, after a very brief Illness. Joseph Johnson and Guy Lcwl3 visited the new town of Burtner In Millard county. They arc enthusiastic over the future prospects of that country. , Dr. 11. W. Lee, dentist, who lias been practicing In neighboring towns, Intends to locate In Richfield In the near future. The Richfield high school Is rehearsing an opera, which Is to be produced during dur-ing the commencement week. John Hood Is directing the production. m A pleasant party was- given Tuesday afternoon by Mrs. Roy Horn, In honor of Mrs. Martha Horn's birthday. A delectable delect-able luncheon was served. Since" tho city council refused to granl saloon licenses recently, the city lias been without ordinance regulations in regard re-gard to the liquor traffic, and It Is an open secret that much "booze" has been dispensed within the confines of the city without "let or hindrance.' At a session of the city council Tuesday night an ordinance was introduced which prohibits pro-hibits tho sule or giving awa of Intoxicating Intoxi-cating beverages, and provides a penalty of SU0 line and a Jail sentence of six months. In addition lo these penalties, the ordinance provides for the abolishment abolish-ment of "blind plgsv by granting to the city marshal power to designate sucli places where liquorr. are surreptitiously sold, as public nuisances. U is hoped that the new ordinance will effectually control the sale of Intoxicants in Richfield. Rich-field. , Mrs. John Hood received a message. Thursday night from Eureka slating that her brother. John Strang, was rinnger-onslv rinnger-onslv ill with miners' consumption. Mr. Strung Is superintendent of the letro mines; Mr. Strang will be taken to California Cali-fornia in hopes of relief. Mrs. Hood left Friday morning to see him before he left for California. Miss Ella Nlelson. telephone operator, was seriously Injured by a fractious horse while horseback riding Thursday.
