Tho armored cruisers Montana and North Carolina arc on their way to Asiatic Turkey, under-orders lo proceed pro-ceed as swiftly as possible. They left here shortly before noon today, and expect ex-pect to make a record run. Capt. William A. Marshall is in command com-mand of the North Carolina, and ('apt. Alfred Reynolds, the Montana. These two cruisers are among the swiftest, and most formidable of the service. Tho cruisers arc capable of a speed of twenty-two knots, it is expected that 1hc3' will reach A lexandretta by May S at the latest, tho distaueo being about (5000 miles. Both carry a. large forco of marines, who can bo utilized if necessary in help ing to prescrvo order in the disaffected districts. |
