Show CITY LIABLE FOR CARS BURNED DURINCr STRIKE The Illinois supreme court has handed, down an opinion, holding the city of Chicago liable for' Ike destruction of the cats of railways dtiring the slriko of tho American Kailwav union in 1301, under the leadership of Engeno V. l'Jcbs. The court said that the citv was re-sponsible re-sponsible for the cars whether they were owned bv the companies on, whose tracks thev worn burned or not. Tho suit was a test case brought by tho Pennsvlvania eompanv. which was awarded $100,000 damages. Other rail- wavs will now press similar suits.
