Show ROOSEVELT WILL NOT CAMPAIGN FOR TAFT OYSTER BAY. Aug. 18. A published report that President Roosevelt had offered of-fered to take the stump for Taft this fall was denied today by Rudolph Forster the president's assistant secretary. He said no such offer had been made and reiterated re-iterated the statement that the president presi-dent would make no campaign speeches. Truman S. Newberry, acting secretary of tho navy, who was the guest of the president over night, had a talk with the president on the na-al militia. He made a report to Mr. Roosevelt of the maneuvers maneu-vers of tho fleet In which the volunteer naval men from sl.v states took part, at Farringer's bay last week. Ho told tho president that tho men had acquitted themselves admirably. Tho president was pleased. |
