Show GUARANTEE LABELS MUST BE CHANGED WASHINGTON. Dec. 12. Unscrupulous Unscru-pulous and otherwise misleading phrases in guarantee labels used by manufacturers manufac-turers arc barred under a decision promulgated pro-mulgated todav by tho puro food and drug board with the approval of Secretaries Secre-taries Cprtclvou, WSIhoii and Straus. The decision conforms to the recent refusal re-fusal ol Commissioner of Patents Mnorc to register trado marks which include j the plirnse, "guaranteed under the food and drugs act, June 30, 190G," on the 1 ground that, it is impleading. Effective January 1 next, guarantees must bo changed so as to show plainly that the gunrantce is that of the manufacturer manu-facturer and not of tho government, but because of the large sums invested in good faith in labels and plates, the old form of labels now in use representing guarantees already filed with tho department de-partment will be recognized for a term ! of two jy.ars. j |
