Show CONDEMNS POLICY OF 1 THE FOREST RESERVE Idaho Senate Passes House Resolution, After Long and Heated Debate. Special to Tho Tribune. BOISE, Ida., Feb. 28. There was a heated debate in the Senate today over the House resolution condemning tho forest roservo policy of tho Government, Govern-ment, and it passed by a vote of 15 to 6. Frequently while the resolution was under consideration, tho nanlcs of the President, Senators Dubois and Hej-burn Hej-burn were used. Hoybura was charged by MaeBcth with being the author of the resolution, and several Senators looked upon the measure as being as much' of a slap at tho Stnto Land board and tho Governor as it was at the National Na-tional Government. The Senate also passed bills creating the county of Kaminh from part of Nez Perce county, relative to wuter rights; simplifying practice in courtsj providing provid-ing for appeals in criminal cases by the State; House bill creating herd districts, dis-tricts, and a concurrent resolution fixing midnight, March 7, as the time for final' adjournment of tho Legislature. Many Bills Passed. The House passed Senate bills regulating regu-lating civil practice and relating lo instructions in-structions to juries; to prevent the misuse mis-use of society emblems or names; appropriating ap-propriating .50,000 to continue work on tho State capitol building; providing for the using of $310,000 in the public building endowment fund for the capitol cap-itol building; fixing salary of - court stenographers at $2o00; lo levy a tax of 20 mills in independent school districts; dis-tricts; making it necessary for courts to continue in session till all the pending pend-ing business is cleaned up; permitting County Commissioners to license tho construction of toll roads for traction engines; providing for a bridge across Kootenai river at Bonner's Ferry, ap-. ap-. propriating $10,000 therefor; appropriating appropri-ating $50,000 to complete the Steuncn .berg murder trial. The primary election and tho direct primary bills were up for consideration and an animated discussion took place. During the debate it. developod that Senator Heyburn was the author of the former and Senator Borah the latter. Favorable action was taken on the Borah Bo-rah bill. A largely-signed petition was received re-ceived in "the' Senate asking for the enactment of a local option herd law, and several other pbtitions against tho-passage tho-passage of the House bill amending the two-mile limit law. i "Rev. Tufts, who was arrested, i charged with lobbying in the House, in violation of tho now anti-lobby law, had a trial in .fudge Savidgo's .court, and was discharged this evening, thero not. having been suflicieni evidenco against him to coilvict. Frank Seanlon. late Treasurer of Boise county, who was recently arrested arrest-ed on a charge of embezzling $600 of county funds, has been discharged, an investigation showing that there was no ground for the charge made. |
