Since tho arrest of tho two officers, referonco has been mado to an alleged confession of W. II. Parrent, who wan arrested in Denver on February 15 and brought to this city on the charge of having been connected with the alleged al-leged robbery of the McWhirler .brothers. .broth-ers. A representative of The Tribuno waited on Chief Sheets and Detective Ttaleigh at the police station laat night and asked them what they knew about Parrent and his alloged confession. "I do not think that tho man Parrent ever made the confession that ho is credited with," said the chief. "If ho did ho has uLtcred a falsehood as far as my connection with him is concerned.. I do not know tho man and, as far as t know, I have never seen him iu mv life. I do not believe that he ever mado tho confession that he is alleged to havo mado." Detective Raleigh said: "T'do not know tho man and have no recollection of ever seeing him." An effort was made to see PaTrent at tho county jail, with a view to asking him if he know Chief Sheets or Mr. Raleigh, Ra-leigh, and if he was in Salt Lake on the dato of tho alleged robbery, September Septem-ber 19, 1906.
