Show GREAT HORSE SHOW IS MARKED SUCCESS Event Will Go Down in History His-tory as Best on Record. Tribune Special Sportinp Service. N'EW YORK, Dec. S. Now that the great horse show of 1000 Is history, experts ex-perts are studying the lessons of that exhibit with great Interest. The horse show will go down Into history as one of the best In the long quarter of a century cen-tury scries best In the equal division of tho classes from sum to finish. In tho Increased In-creased entry In specific cases which caused this equality. In tho average quality, qual-ity, and in the high standard of the Individual In-dividual stars. With tho international show in England, Eng-land, to which many prominent American exhlbtors have promised to send their best, coming oft in the near future, it Is extremely satisfactory to find that the strongest American lines, tho harness and the trotter classes, wore. If anything, any-thing, above the high average of other years. The harness clasesH were beyond praise. Class after class In singles, pairs, tandems, or fours, rolled around tho ring, eighteen to twenty strong, and without exaggeration. It may bo truthfully truthful-ly said Hint not 5 per cent were beyond tho possibilities of a. blue ribbon. One or two sclntlllant horses have been shown, but not more. Tho high average of quality qual-ity Is what has been remarkahle. and It Is safe to say that nowhorc In tho civilized civ-ilized world could nnythlng be gathered to equal It as a whole. In several cases It was clearly n case of "tossing a coin" or "drawing straws" to decide which should be placed first, and somo trilling matter of equipment, or the Inciting of speed or action in the final round of tho ring, was what brought tho matter to a point. In one spoclnlly defined class there woro four pairs, any of which mlglu wltli Justice have boon placed first. There was almost an utter absence of "professionalism." which was so rlfo a few years ago. The average class was shown nnd judged along Impartially correct cor-rect lines, and there can bo little cause of complaint even from those who were 1 from one reason or another unsuccessful in the Individual class. The show has been a great success, with the few exceptional excep-tional cases enumerated, there is llttlo to suggest in improvement. |
