B The impression that the Cactus is H disclosing as rich a grndc of copper H ores as any property in tlio State, and H in newer parts of the mine, has be- H come so thoroughly cemented in local H circles without official origin or appro- B nation, that the report now current ro- garding the find of splendid resources H upon the fourth level is taken without j a thought of official proof. Thie re- H port, is to the effect that a string of H assays have established the fact, that H twenty-two sets on this level nverago H better than 15 per cent copper. H H is not known whether or not these fl sets take in more tlinn one floor, but H the impression is general that they arc H in contiguous ground, thus blocking out H a great and extremely rich ore bod.y H jn new ground. It is understood that H there is every reason to expect this resource to descend with deeper work-H work-H ings, and the mine may yet serve as H the nucleus for something more than a milling-grade Bingham. Of course, this fine new body of ore is an execp-tion execp-tion so far to the' Cactus resources, the mine being a big milling proposition, Hl with a general average of .3 per cent red metal. It serves, however, to cm- "phasizc the possibilities of the proper- H ty, opening a greater range for activ- ity on the part of the company than 1 the scope originally placed upon the H The Newhonse management is form- B ing plans for a grent increase in ca- pa city for the mill, and this increase 1 will about double the present ability to H handle ore. The present capacity of Hj the plant is about 800 tons, but owing H to the scarcity of coal, the company H has not been able to maintain a maxi- B mum production. The excellence of the H plant is in keeping with the fine mine HT developments, and the East will wake up some of the6C mornings to find the H Cactus or Newhouse stock resting upon H. the same level as the Boston Consoli- dated. |
