Show SAN PEDRO TRAIN 1 COLLIDES II YARDS Passenger and Freight Came Together, hut No. One Seri- -on sly Injured. ' Passenger train G2 of the Salt Lake Route, from Lynn Junction, crashed into the roar oud of a freight train In the San Pedro yards Thursday morning, overturning overturn-ing the engine and throwing three freight cars In the ditch. Fortunately no one was seriously injured. The engineer and fireman, seeing that a collision .was inevitable, in-evitable, Jumped nnd paved themselves and some of the passengers were Jolted and Jarred somewhat roughly. As usual, no Information of the accident acci-dent could be obtained from the offices of the Salt Lake Route, but from, another source It was learned that the passenger train was (lagged that the freight was in the way hut the engineer did not apply ap-ply tho brakes quick enough to avoid the crash, he claiming that the air failed to work The locomotive crashed Into the cars, the front trucks climbing on to them. They were badly damaged and rolled over Into the ditch and tho engine followed. The passenger coaches remained re-mained on the track. The track was blocked for several hours. |
