MAINTAINING UNIVERSITY. Senator Park's Bill Directs tho Collection Collec-tion of a Tax. ' In the Senate Thursday afternoon Senator Park introduced' a measure which provides for lowing and directing direct-ing the collection of a tax for tho general gen-eral maintenance of the University of Utah, including its several schools' and colleges. The bill provides as follows: There 1p hereby levied and directed to be assessed and collected annuallv. beginning be-ginning with the year MOT. a State "tax of ono mill on each dollar of the valuation of the taxable property In the State for the general maintenance or usual running run-ning exponses of the University of Utah and Its several schools and colleges, exclusive ex-clusive of thp Branch iVormnl School at Cedar City; and a State tax of one-seventh' of a mill for the general maintenance mainte-nance of usual running expenses of the Branch Normal School at Cedar City, and tho assessment and collection of snld taxes shall be performed In the snm manner and at the same time as other State taxes are assessed and collected.
