Show STILL FLIES THROUGH AIR Baldwin Airship Is a Wonder. Second Successful Flight of the Machine Is made. Aeronaut Will Now Undertake a Fifteen Fif-teen Mile Flight Over Designated Desig-nated Course. ST. LOUIsrNov. 1. A second successful suc-cessful flight of the Baldwin airship was made at the World's fair today, under the guidance of A. Knabenshue, who piloted lhc California Arrow at will high above the western portion of the exposition grounds and descended in the Stadium, adjoining the aerial concourse, amid the cheering of thousands, after a flight of thirty-six minutes. Directs Ship" at Will. Yesterday Knabenshue look the airship air-ship up to an altitude of 2000 feet, and, circling, descended In the aerial concourse, con-course, within 100 feet of his starting point. Today he went up to an altitude of about 1600 feet, and after directing the course of his aerial vessel at will, descended on the exact spot upon which he had decided to land. Landed Where He Intended. Owing lo the large crowd gathered within the concourse enclosure Inventor T. S. Baldwin admonished Knabenshue at the start not to attempt to land In the concourse enclosure, but to choose some spot within and nearby, where he would not be In danger of striking spectators. Knabenshue choose the Stadium enclosure, and came down Just as he intended to do. Will Fly Over Designated Course. Satisfied with the demonstrations of the airship over short courses during these two trials. Inventor Baldwin announced an-nounced at the conclusion of thc- flight that Knabenshue will tomorrow undertake under-take a fifteen-mile flight over a designated desig-nated course, the choice of the course to he left to newspaper men. and tho flight to be made regardless of the wind conditions. |
