Show UNITED FOR IRRIGATION. It is excellent news that the South Jordan Canal company, which was so obstinate last spring In opposition to tho Utah Lako improvement, has now come Into line, and Joins with the other companies in supporting tho Government Govern-ment work, not only as to that particular particu-lar improvement, but also the greater irrigation plan, which 13 designed to make the best possible and most thorough thor-ough use of all the streams of the northern portion of tho State. This demonstrates the correctness of the view of Col. Holmes, President Angus An-gus SL Cannon, Mr. Doremus, and others, that the best thing to do was to let the South Jordan fplk alone for a while, and give them time for cool reflection, re-flection, and to see what was In fact proposed, their attitude being in large part caused by suspicion and lack of full comprehension of the law, of the work proposed, and of the method of proceeding with It. The concurrence of the South Jordan company makes the united effqrts of all the canal companies avuilablc In support sup-port of the work, and for the petition that the Government tako It up and go on with it. Tho beneficial workings of tho National irrigation law the Roosevelt Roose-velt law will thus receive a practical exemplification in this community, which will be greatly lo the ndvantago of every Interest Involved, ns well as of tho whole community and of the State at large. |
