Tho com- monocment exorcises of the Sprlngvlllo high school were held last night beforo u largo audience. Tho talks by tho gradu ates were short and pointed. Packard, Berno Mendonhall, MInett Alleman, Lola White, Jennie Houtz, John E. Boyor, Tho girls were dressed In the school color, bluo. and tho boys each woro a blue tie. They presented a pleasing sight, and many remarked that the beauty and simplicity of the dress was a pleasant and commendable feature. The occasion was favored with tho presence pres-ence of President Kingsbury of the U, of U., who expressed the opinion that It pays to educate the bQys and girls, from fl. financial, social and joy point of view. "Tho standings from your high school," ho oald, "will be accoptcd at tho U. of U." President Brlmhall of tho B, Y. U. spoke of tho value of tho boy "with the book." He urged attendance at tho high school. Principal L. E. Eggertsen recommended tho graduates for diplomas In a talk which showed his Interest in tho city's educational advancement. Trustoo O. M. Mower, In behalf of the board, presented the diplomas and called attention to tho work of tho teachors. Tho eighth grado presented, through tho class president, Myron Manwaring, a bust of George Washington to the' Washington Washing-ton school as a memento of love for tho school. A reception was .given the graduates after the exercises. Ice cream, cuko and fruit wero served. Toasts and sentlmonts, Hongs and jollity prevailed. Mayor F, C. Boyer, H. T. Reynolds, Myron Cnindal, D. C. Johnson and II. M. Dougall toasted the high school. The Ugurcs presented in a conservative estimate by Mayor Boyor showed that to educate tho sixty-one graduatca from tho eighth grado next year, away from home, would cost thft purunts ?12,000, State "Superintendent A.
