MORE changes In tho traffic department de-partment of tho Oregon Short Line will shortly be announced, this tlmo further away from home. S. TP. Booth, general agent of the passenger department In San Francisco Fran-cisco of tho Union Pacific, Oregon Short Lino and the Oregon Railway & Navigation, Is to be made district pas-songer pas-songer agent, while C. Clifford of the freight department becomes district freight agent for all three lines. P. II. Cook, traveling passenger agent for the Union Pacific, Is transferred trans-ferred from that position to the Reno division. It is thought that ho will be transferred to the live-stock department depart-ment and wilfreport to C. I. Tuttle, but this has not yet been confirmed. On June 1, the date when all the changes will take place, the following chances In the time card of the road are also expected: Tho trl-weekly train from Brlgham City to Garland via Corlnne will be changed to a dally service from Ogden to Garland; also on tho Mackay branch of the line a dally service will be Inaugurated about the first of the month, instead of a triweekly tri-weekly as hitherto. In the engineering department also some changes have been announced. R. B. Ketchum, assistant resident engineer, engi-neer, goes to Montana In charge of that division. J. P. Congdon stays In Pocatello, with the title of division engineer en-gineer In Idaho. J. A. Weed, superintendent superin-tendent of bridges and buildings, takes the title of general foreman of the department. de-partment. A. H. King, assistant engineer engi-neer of tho Montana division, becomes general foreman of tho Utah division, and his chief clerk, F. Holt, comes with him. Mr. King reports to Division Engineer En-gineer Harris of the Utah division. W. G. Hannaford, chief clork to Mr. Vreed, goes Into the gfilce of Mr. Ketchum. A general opinion seems to have gained gTOund that the Ogden-Lucln cut-off would be opened for passenger traffic on June 1. Everything seems to point that way, both from the fact that every day crews on the cut-off are being be-ing laid off and returned to California, and that the construction forces have been diminished. Information was given to the Ogden correspondent of The Tribune that arrangements had been made for an "accommodation train" to be run around tho north end of the lako to the town of Terrace, which would consist of two freight cars and a passenger coach, which will provide pro-vide a dally service for those living along the old main line. This report has not been confirmed by officials of the Short Line, who say they know nothing of any Intention to start passenger pas-senger traffic over the now line so soon, but the fact remains that the forces and stores arc being diminished and arrangements made to amend the time cards of the whole system. |
