By advertisement in another column it will be aecn that the coal merchants announce, that in con.se-quenco con.se-quenco of the advance in the price of j I transportation, they arecompellcd to 1 advance the price of coal to 12 per 1 Ion at the depot, until further notice. : This advance wo arc assured is not made to take advantage of consumers of the article, but is owing to the advanced ad-vanced price which they have to pay for teams to haul the coal from the beds to the railroad, and may all be attributed to tho lato storm which has rendered tho roads almost impassible. This is all right as matters now exinf, but so soon as the roads freeze up and become hard, wo shall expect to sec them drop back to the old figure. |
