wheat shown at the lose yesterday was still in evidence at the opening this morning although prices were a trifle off from the final figures than quoted Liverpool reported 4d advance ad-vance which was not sufficient to show full reflection with our advance The weeks shipments from both coasts were light at 1629000 bushels and Argentine Ar-gentine exports 304000 bushels was better bet-ter than they have recently been These facts would ordinarily cause the tone to display easiness but the local speculative sentiment is pronouncedly in favor of higher price and the buying buy-ing this morning was unquestionably superior to the selling Receipts in the northwest were heavier at 372 cars against 109 last Saturday and 661 a year ago Chicago received 13 cars and inspected out 33765 bushels The action was irregular until near the close when offerings became heavier and prices dropped half a cent under yesterdays close Paris cables were lower Antwerp unchanged and Berlin higher Export clearances at Atlantic ports were fair at 308405 bushels May wheat opened from 75 to 74 sold between be-tween 7514 and 74 A closing at the inside in-side under yesterday Estimated receipts for Monday 20 cars No 2 red spot wheat 84 to 90 4 closing about 8489 OatsThe oats market presented inactivity of a profound character Prices were steady because of the surrounding sur-rounding firmness but the offerings and the demand were both unimportant unimpor-tant Receipts were 138 cars There Were no oats withdrawn from store Near the close the weakness of wheat and corn extended to oats May oats i closed 8 1A lower Estimated receipts for Monday 160 cars Provisions The provision market was fairly animated and the early feeling was firm Another rise in the prices of hogs were the main issue at the opening in determining the tone of the provision market but offerings soon asserted supremacy and prices eased off May pork closed 77fJ10 higher May lard 2 lower and May ribs 5 lower Closing favorites and sold the highest high-est but at the present time heavy beeves are the best sellers Then heavy cattle crowded the market but now most of the offerings are light in weight and too thin in were on sale and prices for them were steady The boom in hogs continues and prices shot upwards oc to lOc per 100 pounds today on receipts of only 8000 head That put prices for prime heavy hogs up to
