Show LOGAN MATTERS Regular Session of the School Board General Notes Logan March 2At a regular session ses-sion of the Logan school board held this week Superintendent Hubbard reported re-ported an average attendance at the city schools of 9SS The board ordered the sum of 145725 paid to the county treasurer to reimburse the county for the amount received previous to the decision of the supreme court declaring declar-ing county school tax in cities of the first and second class illegal I Also a resolution was passed transferring 1500 of the sinking fund to the general gen-eral fund for the maintenance of schools said amount to be refunded to the sinking fund as provided by law The committee on school work recommended rec-ommended that the schools be continued contin-ued to May 14 and that the closing exercises be held in the Thatcher opera House in the afternoon of this date The committee was authorized to discontinue dis-continue any school whenever the decrease de-crease in attendance would justify the same Mrs William B Preston left this afternoon for Salt Lake after having made her children here in Logan a visit Rev Bascom of this city addressed the students of the Agricultural college yesterday morning Messrs William and John Bingham cattlemen of Trenton are in Logan today I to-day dayDr Dr Edward Vincent will lecture on the Polar Regions next Monday and Tuesday evenings in the Logan tabernacle taber-nacle Bishop William H Lewis of Lewiston Lewis-ton is a Logan visitor The snow is quite deep 0 yet in the alley while in Logan the streets are ery muddy which makes it bad for those hauling their farm products to market |
