Show BINGHAM BULLETIN JOTTINGS The Proposed Project Tunnel Under Un-der Markham Hill An important project being quietly I promoted and said to be so far perfected perfect-ed a to leave little doubt that it will take definite shape contemplates the tunneling of Markham hill for purposes pur-poses of drainage and to give a deep workIng outlet to its mineral veins Starting from a point near the mouth of Freeman gulch convenient for dumping dump-ing ground it will intersect veins on which are located the Ruby Native I I Tough Nut Red Wing Julia Dean and larkham group mines etc reaching I a far as the Montezuma a distance of perhaps 2500 feet and tapping the latter lat-ter at a depth of 1000 to 1200 feet This project is not only feasible but liable to attract attention as among the best In the way of deep tunneling that has ever been suggested or attempted in this district Its possibilities are immense Im-mense and there is np great expanse of barren ground to pass through I would open up several veins that are right now producing rich mineral and it Js not only possible but probable a I that it would become a paying proposition propo-sition within 1000 feet of the tunnel face The hill is thickly Intersected with rich mineral veins as it is needless need-less to state and believed by many to oe destined to prove the great treasure house of this district The plan of the promoters is to forma form-a consolidation or association of a majority ma-jority of the properties to be traversed This should be feasible on a showing of thorough business organization a costly litigation and tying up is liable to result from existing surface con licts while a consolidation for mutual interest would circumvent this bane of the mining camp We have not obtained all particulars and names of parties backing the proposition are for the present withheld with-held but it looks so fair and genuine on its face that we are inclined to be ieve the business will be perfected and work begun on the Markham tunnel within 60 days DIPS AND SPURS Several shippers will dig out withIn i with-in a few days should the present favorable vorable weather continue Very favorable reports continue to come from the Frisco and indications are that it will make a big record this summer Billy Clays got a number of rich assays this week from one of the leases on the Tiewaukee The old mine is surely getting its second wind Now that the price of lead has taken another step up it is about time for the smelters to absorb the difference by working the mineral spice racket on some new tangent The leasers on the Julia Dean are all doing well and the mine was never looking better than right now Manager Man-ager Dan Clays is working three shifts of five men each and as a result will make a good shipment about the 1st of the month They cannot tell all the time just which is the best ore in the Julia Dean Tuesday Dan Clays broke open a piece of rock weighing about 100 pounds that had been thrown over the dump and found it wired all through with native silver Possibly the Cleveland claim is crawling crawl-ing out from under a hoodoo Just as the great stuffed prophet steps down it is showing some streaks of galena after af-ter many months of drifting through white iron Newt Jarrard and partners will change the name of the property if necessary to throw off the spell The Bingham Copper company is placing an order for a hoist at the I Starlus which will be planted over the shaft at the tunnel level where a station sta-tion is partly excavated The shaft is ton party now 170 feet in depth and making a fine showing of ore that runs 15 to 20 per cent copper Further hand sinking being impracticable work has been transferred to the 100 level pending the arrival of machinery which includes anew a-new skip and complete hoisting outfit out-fit fitThe Nast group has passed from the control of the Bingham Copper company com-pany which was operating it under bond and lease and reverted to the owners There is little definite information infor-mation here in regard to the mater but several rumors are in circulation one that the owners are soon to begin operations on the property and another an-other that the copper company has been tendered a renewal of its bond and lease I is known that an important im-portant deal contemplating the transfer trans-fer of this famous group of mines was recently knocked out There are now I about 17 tons of firstclass and 40 tons of secondclass in the bins of the I Nast i |
