Show The First Lumber In speaking of the picture in The Herald representing John Taylor and George Q Cannon making the first lumber ever made in Salt Lake valley Hon Joseph Parry stated that the picture pic-ture was very lifelike and shows just the way the whipsawing was done Mr Parry and Benjamin F Cummings now a resident of Salt Lake sawed the first lumber ever sawed in Idaho This was in the Salmon river country in July 1895 Mr Parry was one of the first of those who left Utah to establish settlements there He suggests that in the jubilee celebration pioneers who left here to establish outposts in Idaho Nevada Wyoming or elsewhere should be represented as the work they did was none the less important than that of those who by subsequent surveys were made pioneers in some adjoining territory |
