| Show THE MUNICIPAL LEAGUE > V Meeting at St flarks Hal This Evening 4 CIBCULABS BEING DISTRIBUTED AND TfEW MEMBERS ADDED Objects of the Organization as SetOut Set-Out in the Articles of Incorporation Incorpora-tion The regular meeting of the Municipal r League will take place at St Marks 1 school house this evening The league is now said to be in good working shape and tonight something definite lelative to the future action of the association as-sociation may crystallize Printed slips containing extracts from the articles of incorporation are being freely distributed and new members solicited I looks a though the parties par-ties at the head of it mean business The printed handbills that are being circulated say that the object of the league shall be First The formation of an influential influen-tial nonpartisan nonsectarian association asso-ciation embracing all persons who earnestly desire to advance the municipal munic-ipal philanthropic and moral interests of Salt Lake City and to aid in promoting pro-moting the honesty efficiency and economy of its municipal government and the highest welfare of its citizens SecondTo serve as a medium of acquaintance and sympathy between persons who reside in the different parts of the city who pursue different vocations who are by birth of different nationalities who profess different creeds or no creed who for any of these reasons are unknown to each other but who nevertheless have similar sim-ilar interests in the well being of Salt Lake City and who agree in the desire to promote every kind of municipal welfare ThirdTo increase the number and efficiency of agencies designed to discover dis-cover and to correct abuses in municipal munici-pal affairs and to increase the interest of the citizens in such affairs especially especi-ally by securing the utmost practicable separation of municipal issues from state and national politics Under the head of methods the following appears The principal means to be employed by the league are investigation publication cation agitation and organization together to-gether with the exercise of every kind or moral influence needed to carry into effect the purpose of the league Then follows the application for membership mem-bership in the league and this reads I the undersigned a citizen of Salt I Lake City Utah having read the above statement of the purposes and methods meth-ods of the Municipal League of this city and approving the same apply for membership In the league and promise to give my hearty support And so the war is on |
