club possessed all the elements dear to the patrons of boxing and the 5000 spectators went away happy There were plenty of cleverness sameness and gore and the length cf the contests was enough to satisfy the most enthusiastic The particular stars as advertised were to be Alex Greg gains a San Francisco heavyweight with a reputation for cleverness and Jack Stelzner who has absorbed some of Champion Fitzsimmons glory from a close association with that Celebrity while he was preparing for his fight with Corbett at Carson The AgnewThompson contest however how-ever divided the honors in point of fast fighting Agnew put his man cut in the twelfth round Greggains and Stelzner both showed up well with a slight advantage in favor fa-vor of the latter a regards condition conditon The first three rounds were slow Greg I gains merely feeling of his man and I trying to draw him out Except in the thirteenth fourteenth and fifteenth ffeenth rounds Greggains was the aggressor and had the best of the fight He did most of the leading seldom failing to land with his left hand jabs on Stelzners face For the first five rounds Greggins who assumed the aggressive had I everything his own way apparently landing at will uDon Stelzners face neck jaw and short ribs In the sixth however Stelzner seemed more confident and landed one or two effective blows Honors efetve were easy for the next two rounds but in the ninth Greggains landed a hot left punch on the jaw which made Stelz ner reel as the gong rang Stelzner was weak when he toed the scratch In the tenth and Greggains went right after him but the former recuperated and punched Alex in the jaw with his left S The next two rounds were Greg gains but in the 13th Stelzner became aggressive and rushed his man to the ropes Greggains swung wildly and Stelzner landed several hard swings and had his man almost out when the round closed In the next Stelzner sought to end the fight but the pace began t tell on him and Greggains landed a left swing which put his opponent op-ponent as groggy as he himself A punch would have decided the contest either way but neither man had one left leftGreggains was weak when he came up for the 15th but gale to the core I and Stelzner was unable to do any thing effective Near the end of the Tound Alex landed a right swing which sent Stelzner to the floor When he arose he was
