| Show HEAESTS ENTEEPSISKA NEW CLAIM BUREAU The San Francisco Examiner has established estab-lished in Washington D C a bureau to be called Examiner Bureau of Claims which will be of great benefit to all persons C8vine claims against tha government of I hiiz agnst any nature or description whatsoever The pension fees chargeable by attorneys have for some time been limited by law and under the recent act March 81891 transferring trans-ferring the jurisdiction Indian depredation depreda-tion se from the interior department to the court of claims Congress not only limited lim-ited the fees but in order t check tho rapacity ra-pacity of the claim agents cancelled all existing ex-isting contracts and fee agreements between be-tween client and attorney Congress was led t take this action on account offacts 1 brought t their notice that by a combination combina-tion among the leading claim agents a range of suits of 83 > to 50 per cent had been establshed 37 vast mass of government gov-ernment claims are still unprotected by law lawMr Mr William R Hearst son of the late Senator Hearst and the proprietor of the Examiner proposes to attend through his new bureau t all classes of cases before the departments pensions patents aepre dation claims and Indian claims for a small percentage above the actual cost of the work He has engaged several competent attorneys attor-neys and the necessary clerical force of a large bureau and tney will soon be at work He has placed at the head of the bureau Mr John Wedderburn Washington Washing-ton who has long been the correspondent of the Examiner and had a remarkable experience ex-perience a few years ago in ferreting out for Secretary Tracy some gigantio contract frauds at Mare Island navy yard The new bureau being established by a responsible newspaper has already received the cordial endorsement of many western members of Congress and is getting a big pile of mall from all sections of the country |
