| Show HATE AND REVENGE Coke Strikers Giving Vent to their Lawless Passion TH MILITARYS WITHDRAWAL Causes Alarm among the Citizens Attacking Deputy Sheriffs An Appeal to Governor Pattison for Troops SCOTTDALE Pa April IS Hardly had the soldiers left the region before the fears of the citizens were realized and gangs of striking cokers again turned loose their lawless passions of hate and revenge Throughout the region all last night the earth fairly trembled with a succession of shocks following the explosion of dynamite bombs At Leisining No3 of the Frick works a crowd of strikers gathered on the hill and at one time thirty bombs were exploded simultaneously tearing great holes in tho earth breaking windows in many houses and frightening people for miles around by the terrific roar No one was injured however how-ever and but little actual damage was done tho strikers contenting themselves with this warning to the workers bolow Monday the companies will post notices that unless the men return to work by Tuesday they will no longer be looked upon as employees This means cheap labor will be imported and as several hundred eviction notices will also expire ex-pire the strikers will have hard work before them At Leisining Deputy Sheriff Crawford and a posse were serving writs of ejectment when they were captured by an angry mob and harshly treated One deputy was fatally injured An effort will be made next week with a large force to evict the strikers and trouble will follow Today Secretary Parkers of the labor organization or-ganization ordered 1000 tents for the shel tering of evicted persons |
