Who Gladys Eyelyn Is I Special to THE HERALD Examiner Dispatch PHILADELPHIA April 18 The Record says In the evidence in the suit for breach of promise against William Henry Hurlbert Miss Gladys Evelyn testified that the boy who was supposed to be her son was really her nephew and son of Architect Walter P Lockington of this city Mr Lockington said yesterday Miss Evelyn or more correctly speaking Miss Gertrude Ellis is my sisterinlaw and the eightyearold boy Walter she has with her is my son I am dumiounded by the statements printed regarding her life abroad She is the daughter of Rev Charles Ellis a highly respected and gifted of Manchester clergyman England and is quite a linguist Her sister Ella my wife died in Germany in 1S84 leaving the baby boy Walter I could not properly care for him and upon my departure for America in the same year I arranged with Miss Gertrude take the boy and bring him up for which service I paid her regularly Miss Gertrude had money left her by her father and aside from this had a tidy sum when last I saw her I know absolutely nothing of her gambling adventures or lose affairs IOe
