Show Davis Approves Tree Trim Rules By MARK D. MICKELSEN FARMINGTON - A new ordinance requiring property-owners property-owners to keep unrulv shrub's and trees trimmed and awav from public right-of-wavs has been approved by the 'Davis County Commission. THE ORDINANCE makes it unlawful for residents to allow trees and shrubs to interfere with traffic flow or to obscure street lights and signs. Davis County'Com. Glen Saunders said most property owners are more than willing to take care of the problem, but said an ordinance is needed to cover those situations where residents don't comply. "DURING THE past year we have been involved in an upgrading of our (street) signs." he said, "and have come across several problems with trees and shrubs." The new ordinance, unanimously unani-mously approved by the commission com-mission last week, gives county coun-ty inspectors the right to issue warnings to residents who do not comply. If the problem persists, a citation will be iNsued. Failure to comply w ith the ordinance is considered a misdemeanor, punishable h a S2W fine. COM. SAUNDERS noted that if the problem is not taken care of. the county will go in w ith their ow n crew s to co or the work. He said the road department w ill be responsible for tree and shrub trimming, but said he sees no immediate need for uldiiional personnel. UNDER THE ordinance, the county has the right to handle any problems, then assess the property owner for the costs involved. The ordinance takes effect immediately .
