Show Girl Scouts Give Gifts To Three Baby Girls March 12 was the 70th anniversary of girl scouting in the U.S. and marked 60 years of girl scouting in Utah. Several Sever-al troops in the community celebrated this occasion with gifts to three baby girls born at Lakeview Hospital on March 12. JUNIOR TROOP 121, under the direction of their leader, Julie Waite, decorated quilt blocks with fabric crayon and then tied a crib quilt. Anna Ploegerdid the necessary sewing. sew-ing. The quilt was presented to the daughter of Dennis and Barbara Woodward of Bountiful. Troop 121 also said thanks to their sponsor, Stewart Elementary School PTA, by giving them a cake to be eaten at the next PTA gathering. JUNIOR TROOP 187 of Meadow Brook School helped by leader Carma Hart also . made a quilt. Joy Hinshaw and her junior troop 5 19 made baby bibs to be presented to the new girl scout babies. The Brownies were represented repre-sented by Beverly Lombar-dy's Lombar-dy's Troop 471 . The girls autographed auto-graphed pampers and attached a girl scout seal. A card was prepared congratulating each mother and care hints for new mothers were written on diaper diap-er liners. These hints were from the viewpoint of the Brownie. "If your baby cries, love her," was one of the appropriate tid-bits of advice. Spelling, grammar and handwriting hand-writing typical of our 6,7 and 8 year old Brownies will make these a humorous keepsake. OTHER BABIES honored were the daughters of Richard and Lisa Twitchell of Salt Lake City and Bruce and Frankie Mower of Magna. The Utah Girl Scout Council also honored all girls born on March 12 with a certificate which may be turned into the council on March 12, 1988 when the girl turns six years old and gives her one year free registration in girl scouting as a Brownie. AT THIS time we also celebrate cele-brate a birthday week with our annual cookie sale. If you were missed, our cadette and senior troops will have booths during April so you may still participate. |
