Show r MSL Considers Ordinance On Sale Of Fireworks NORTH SALT LAKE Approval of a new North Salt Lake ordinance making it illegal illeg-al for anyone to sell fireworks that explode or leave the ground was tabled by city council members last week, pending further investigation. THE ORDINANCE, which resembles a similar set of guidelines approved by Sandy city, would prohibit the sale or distribution of air born or exploding ex-ploding fireworks inside the city limits. Dennis Matthews of Galaxy Fireworks, a supporter of the new ordinance, told city council coun-cil members Tuesday that a business license fee of from $150-200 would not be out of line. During the week of July 4th. fireworks stand operators gross anywhere from $10,000-$20,000 $10,000-$20,000 in sales. CITY MANAGER Collin Wood said he submitted a copy of the new ordinance to the police department who reviewed re-viewed the restrictions and found no problem w ith the law . Councilman Richard Strong, however, voiced some concern over the dismantling of fireworks stands. He said he knows of several places where vendors have failed to tear down the temportary stands, forcing the job onto cits-workers. cits-workers. MR. MATTHEWS recommended recom-mended that the city require a $100 bond from each vendor w hich would be returned if the stand is torn down and the area cleaned up.
