A welcome home party was held Sunday, July 30 at the home of Sandy and Lee Ann Knouse in Centerville. They . were celebrating the ; ' homecoming of their son , . Nicholas, from the hospital. NICHOLAS was born March 17, 1978 at Lakeview Hospital. He weighed 1 lb. 7oz. and was V; 12 inches long, making him ;-: the smallest baby to be born and survive at that hospital. He was the smallest baby to ; be delivered and survive by. : ; Dr. Gudmundson and the smallest baby Dr. Scott had . ; attended. . HE WAS transported to the : University of Utah Newborn : Intensive Care Unit where he : spent the next three and one-half one-half months struggling for life. When he was one week old they discovered a hole in his heart and it was necessary for him to undergo open heart surgery. It was repaired with the use of microscopic instruments in-struments and Nicky made it , without complications. When he was three and one-half months old he weighed 5 lbs. and was returned re-turned by helicopter to Lakeview Hospital for another month of growing. He is now 7 lbs. 11 oz. and the doctor says he is doing great. WAITING at Home for Nicky was his sister Marti Ann, grandparents Roy and Donna Wiscombe and Russell and Dorothy Knouse, great-grandmothers great-grandmothers Delia Everett and Helen Woodhead. |
