Show Former Parowan Lady Dies in Nevada After Long Illness Funeral services were held on Tuesday afternoon at 2 o'clock for Mrs. Madora Dean Benson Tinkler, 68, who passed away at Las Vegas, Nev. on July 4 after a long illness. The services were held In the Parowan Third ward chapel under the direction of Lyle Evans of the Third ward bishopric. Funeral services were held for Mrs. Tinkler in the Nevada city on Monday, after af-ter which the body was brought to Parowan for services and burial bur-ial In the city cemetery. At the services here the organ prelude and postlude was by Mrs. John Cross. The opening song "Oh My Father," was by a mixed quartet consisting of Mrs. Cherie Day, Mrs. Berta Burton, Bur-ton, E. Ray Lyman and J. Harold Mitchell, with Mrs. Mary Lyman at the piano. Speakers were Samuel J. Whitney, Whit-ney, Pres. W. Clair Rowley, with closing remarks by Mr. Evans. The opening prayer was by Joseph Jo-seph E. Ward, the closing one by J. Harold Mitchell and the grave was dedicated by Bishop Watson Adams. Other musical numbers were a vocal solo, "The Lord's Prayer" by Mrs. Claire Dale Terry, and the closing song, "Lead Me Gent-ley Gent-ley Home" by the mixed quartet. quar-tet. The deceased was born In Parowan Par-owan on Mar. 25, 1884 a daughter daugh-ter of Alvin and Elizabeth E. Orton Or-ton Benson. She attended local schools and was married to Oscar Os-car W. Lyman, Jan. 2, 1903 here. He died Oct. 29, 1918, and she married William H. Clark on Oct. 13, 1921. They were later divorced di-vorced and on June 12, 1932 she was married to C. B. Tinkler in Las Vegas, Nev. where she went to reside in 1930. Mrs. Tinkler was an active member of the L D S church, serving as Relief Society ward president in Las Vegas and in the M I A organization. She was also an active member of the Daughters of Utah Pioneers, and during World War II served as a Lady in Grey in Las Vegas. Surviving are her husband, Las Vegas; six children, Harry B. Lyman, Ly-man, Kaysville; Lynn B. Lyman, Spanish Fork; Mrs. Ada L. Rivers, and Mrs. Fae Kennedy, Las Vegas, Ve-gas, Nev.; Mrs. Gayle Anderson, Los Angeles, and Mrs. Louise Ayers, Altadena, Calif.; three stepsons, Clarence B. Tinkler, of Los Angeles; Richard Tinkler, Las Vegas, and Leslie Tinkler, U. S. Navy; 22 grandchildren and 2 great-grandchildren. Also surviving sur-viving are two brothers, Alvin A. Benson, Montebello, Calif., and Clifford Benson, of Toppinish, Wash., and three sisters, Mrs. Flossie Shiner, American Fork; Mrs. Jane B. Richards and Mrs. Rofvrta R. Powlov Pi-owan. |
