Show DAVC Scholarships By GARY R. BLODGETT KAYSVILLE In hopes of obtaining more scholarship applications, appli-cations, deadline for scholarships for students to attend Davis Area Vocational Center (DAVC) has been extended until April 15. Director Jack Shell said board members have expressed concern that more applications have not been filed by students wanting to attend the school under scholarship scholar-ship next year. The post-secondary vocational training center located east of Davis High School in Kaysville is offering 12 scholarships three of which will pay both tuition and books and nine which will offer tuition tui-tion only. "But as of March 1, we had received re-ceived only eight applications, 'eaving four to be filled," Mr. Shell V, explained. "They will all receive scholarships but exactly which ones will not be determined until all the applications (including those received through April 15) have been reviewed." He said it is possible that information infor-mation about our facility and what we have to offer did not reach many students that might be interested in-terested in attending. "Perhaps by extending the deadline we can gain some more qualified applicants for the scholarships that are still available," avail-able," the director said. Another possible breakdown in communications, it was noted, is through the high schools where one county high school has 12 students attending DAVC on a part-time basis, but not one applied for a full time scholarship next year. Mr. Shell said there will also be a concentrated effort during the final days before deadline to assist prospective pros-pective applicants with filling out their forms. Applications may be obtained at DAVC, 350 East 300 South, Kaysville, Kays-ville, weekdays between 9 a.m. and 4 p.m. |
