Have been In. the naval hospital for three weeks sick with Influenza In-fluenza but am getting along pretty well and expect to be released In about a week. Seven other boys from the ship aro also in the hospital with me. This is certainly a beautiful country but nothing is modern like in tho states. I can't tell you of all my experiences ex-periences because 'in tho first place there is not enough paper hero to write them all on and again I can tell you better when I got home. Everything Every-thing you try to buy here costs a mint of money but it seems to mako no difference with the people as they dress far better, eat and drink more than the Americans do. In fact, vou would not know here that there was a war from the way they eat and drink and make merry. There is one bov in the navy, however, that has kep't his pledge not taken a drink and kept away from the good times that's me. I have suro made good in the engineer's force, haying been promoted pro-moted to chipf electrician of the ebip. If all goes well wo expect to be back In the United States about January 31 and then home, sweet home, for mo. Give Mr. Parry and Mr. O'Brien my best regards. "LARRY"." nn |
