Show Deputies Present Memorial Me-morial to President Presi-dent Wilson. PARIS, Tuesday, Dec. 2-1 Italian deputies of the redeemed provinces who represented their districts in Budapest Bud-apest and Vienna parliaments and came to Paris expressly for the purpose pur-pose of submitting their case to the American mission have been received by Colonel E. M. House. Through Colonel House the deputies presented a memorial to President Wilson, The deputies are Pittaco for Trieste, Ben-nati Ben-nati for lstria, Zanelia for Fiume and Ghigle Anovich for Zara. The memorial recites that their country has been for two thousand I years Italian; that Trieste has suffered suffer-ed under Austrian oppression for five ; centuries and Dalmatla since 1707 has stood all kinds of persecutions to de-1 fend its nationality. The people of the ' districts, says the memorial, have fought in all wars for Italian independence indepen-dence and participated in the present war with 4,000 men. I Regarding the annexation of Tren-i Tren-i tino, Trieste and lstria the memorial says there is no question that can be j raised, but adds that Flume being a 'free city, similar to Bremen and Lu-ibeck, Lu-ibeck, has the right to decide its ovn government and any contrary decision would be against the principles proclaimed pro-claimed by President Wilson. Fiume already has shown by a plebiscite her determination to be united with Italy. Dalmatia has 310 miles of coast, of which 'Italy claimc less than 100 miles comprising the citiec of Zara, Scbcn-ico Scbcn-ico and Spalato, besides the greatest part of the Dalmatian islands. Furthermore, Fur-thermore, says the memorial in conclusion, con-clusion, Italy is ready to make Trieste and Flume free ports for every country. |
