Show ICE SKATING IS NW' ATTRACTING TIE YOIGSTEIS The extreme cold vcathcr of the past two days is affording joy for the youngsters. The Ice on various ponds is of fine thickness and has been getting thicker each night. The rivers, canals- and even the ditches along the curbs are affording pleasure for the boys and girls who delight In skating. The ma'tter of converting Monroe park at the corner of Twenty-nlnth and Monroe avenue, into a public Ice rink was considered a number of days ago by the commissioners at an informal in-formal session, but it was decided to take no action at the present as it was found the soil is of a sandy nature which permitted the water in the spring of the year to seep Into the basements or the homes lyln? to tho west of the park. oo |
