Sotphens placc-d in charge of the county grand jury'3 investigation in-vestigation into charges recently made by John B. Densmore. director general gen-eral of federal employment, involving the district attorney's conduct of the preparedness day bomb explosion cases, cas-es, expressed his disapproval today of Secretary of Labor W. B. Wilson's ve-fusal ve-fusal to permit Densmore and other federal employes to testify at the hearings. Densmore's report dealt largely with the cases o Thomas Mooney. now serving life imprisonment imprison-ment and Mrs. "Rena Mooney, his wife, both of whom were indicted for murder mur-der growing out of the bomb explosion. explos-ion. Attorney General Webb said he greeted with "some surprise and :e- son, made public here yesterday, to decline the request that Densmore appear ap-pear before the grand jury to explain and amplify the charges contained in his report. "Thei So-called Densmore report." said a statement issued by Webb, "is not admissible in court or elsewhere, nor is the material which the report statos was taken from the wire by means of sound-tapping devices." These conversations, the report said, were overheard by means of tapped telephone wires. Secretary Wilson declined to permit Densmore to appear as a witness because be-cause of "an apparent connection" between be-tween the district attorney's office and the grand jury and "the conclusion conclus-ion of the department of justice that it would not be compatible with the public interest to make public at the present time the manner in which the United States government procured its Information, nor the information Itself."
